GLS University’s Bachelor of Commerce Programme is a three-year full-time under-graduate
programme leading to the degree of Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com. – Honours &
B.Com. General). GLS University’s Master of Commerce Programme is a two-year full-time
post-graduate programme leading to the degree of Master of Commerce (M.Com.). The
programmes will be offered by two constituent colleges of GLS University.
Master of Commerce Programme (M.Com.)
Faculty of Commerce, formerly known as S. M. Patel Institute of Commerce, offers
Master of Commerce (M.Com.) Programme. The broad aim of the M.Com. Programme is
the preparation of the participants for the executive positions in Management. The
approach is inter-disciplinary with emphasis on the development of conceptual knowledge
and problem solving ability on issues regarding Corporate Accounting, Tax and Finance
in the context of Strategic Management Planning.
Bachelor of Commerce(B.Com. - Honours) Programme
Faculty of Commerce, formerly known as S. M. Patel Institute of Commerce, offers
the elite B.Com. (Honours) programme which is aimed especially at the aspirants
who wish to make a premium career in the field of commerce and suites to the special
needs of the students who wish to pursue various professional courses like CA, CS,
CMA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA, CFA etc. The curriculum is developed considering the desired
level of knowledge exposure in the context of the ever-changing environment in global
business.
Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com. - General) Programme
Faculty of Commerce formerly known as GLS Institute of Commerce, offers the B.Com
(General) Programme which is aimed at providing a strong foundation level understanding
of the functioning of business organizations, commercial transactions and various
specialized operations such as Accounting, Finance and Marketing by offering a comprehensive
curriculum.
Other Courses
Faculty of Commerce emphasizes on combining excellence with innovation. It offers
a wide range of academic courses to students, giving them a solid academic foundation
and enabling them to achieve their individual goals.
CIMA – UK Chartered Institute of Management Accountant is powering up business
and finance professionals with the right knowledge and skills for today's and tomorrow's
workplaces. CIMA provides Professional Qualification leading to CGMA. CIMA is the
largest professional body of Management Accountant established in 1919 and has presence
in around 179 countries. Concordia College, New York SMPIC has signed an MoU with
Concordia College, New York for a transfer Program and a Faculty Exchange Program.
Students can complete 6 semesters at SMPIC and do 2 semesters with Concordia College
to earn a Bachelors American degree and proceed to earn a Post Graduate in One year
instead of Two years.
Comprehensive Banking & Insurance Programme - Comprehensive Banking & Insurance
Programme is offered, to make the student ready for the job market in the Banking
& Insurance sector as soon as student completes graduation. This course is designed
in such a manner so as to balance between theoretical and practical aspects of modern
Banking & Insurance services.
Bridge Course - Bridge Course in English Language is offered to help students
develop English Proficiency skills. The students are trained exhaustively for the
advanced level (BULATS) of SCOPE Exam – a Govt of Gujarat initiative wherein they
are awarded a Certificate by University of Cambridge.
Admissions
The admission process in the college begins after the declaration of result by Gujarat
Higher Secondary Education Board (GHSEB) and as per the schedule of GLS University.
GLS University releases a detailed Admission Notification indicating various dates
for the admission procedure. The admissions are given on merit basis.
Term Duration
First Semester: From mid June to October.
Second Semester: From November to April.
Examinations
The examination system consists of both internal and external evaluation on 50+50
basis respectively. Internal evaluation consists of written test and continuous
evaluation. Furthermore, for continuous evaluation, students are supposed to submit
project work, book reviews and assignments.
